EDWARD J. MARTIN

The extensive knowledge and expertise gained from over 20 years in managing human resources in the service industry, helps Edward J. Martin successfully negotiate the often complicated legal, professional and personal issues that are inherent in this field.
During Mr. Martins career, he directed the implementation of what were then considered ground-breaking personnel policies. Now industry standards, these programs included the development of compensation/incentive plans, organizational development, labor and employee relations, recruitment and selection, training and development and regulatory compliance, to name a few.
Beginning his career as a Corporate Management trainee for the Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Mr. Martin directed the human resources efforts for a collection of luxury South Florida properties, including the Boca Raton Resort & Club and The Breakers in Palm Beach.
Mr. Martin was asked to join the gaming industry during the mid-1990s, a period of incredible growth for this lucrative market. As the Vice President of Human Resources for the Showboat Hotel, Casino & Bowling Center in Las Vegas, Mr. Martin was again responsible for the development of several innovative programs, including pre-placement drug testing attracting better qualified candidates, and expanding recruiting sources to increase applicant to hire ratio. He also effectively coordinated the successful negotiation of three collective bargaining agreements.
Mr. Martin recently accepted the challenge of creating a human resources department for MRC Group Research Institute, Nevadas largest marketing research/public opinion polling company. Here, he spear headed a recruiting effort that resulted in a staff increase of over 76%. He also coordinated the companys participation in the federal welfare to work program, created supervisory training sessions, developed the employee handbook and company policy manual, and was an invaluable resource to senior management for compliance issues.
Mr. Martin has received numerous certifications, including Senior Professional Human Resource (SPHR) from the Society for Human Resource Management, Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) from the American Hotel & Motel Association and Professional Human Resources (PHR) from the Society for Human Resources Management.
