Educated at several Swiss hotel schools, Mr. Wicky’s illustrious career began in Europe where he gained valuable experience training at premier resorts and luxury urban hotels. His time spent catering to affluent international clientele laid the groundwork for success and credibility in the upscale market. This hands-on learning approach cemented the foundation for his commitment to top quality standards, translating today into his ability to relate to and combine effectively guest issues and management objectives.
Key to Mr. Wicky’s success is his ability to integrate with a project’s Board of Directors. He can conceptualize, develop and implement short and long term strategic plans on behalf of a Board or client. This ability to implement is crucial to improving products and services generating much improved bottom lines. Adaptability and flexibility are crucial in keeping Boards focused and production levels high. Mr. Wicky effectively demonstrated these talents while overseeing a $100 million renovation project at one resort and steering another to award winning excellence, despite five ownership changes during his tenure.
Throughout his career Mr. Wicky’s dedication to excellence has earned him a reputation as one of the premier troubleshooters in the industry. At four separate properties he was presented with the challenge of earning the coveted Mobil 5-Star or AAA 5-Diamond awards. Through his leadership the resorts successfully gained or regained the prestigious awards. Among them; The Boca Raton Hotel & Club, The Breakers Palm Beach, The Cloister at Sea Island, Georgia and Hotel Intercontinental in Hilton Head, South Carolina.
In addition to his work in hotel management Mr. Wicky has served on the boards of privately owned, corporate and equity member ownership properties. He has represented extensive real estate assets on behalf of his properties including; single family homes, condominiums, hotel accommodations and membership sales. In addition to his real estate responsibilities he has spearheaded operational aspects of recreational facilities such as; golf, tennis, spas, marinas and retail outlets.
True to his management style, Mr. Wicky excels by supporting and strengthening the team around him. Core elements to this style are team building through staff training and motivational development. His European background laid the foundation for managing effectively within today’s diverse workforce. All of these elements combine to form a leadership style which is team-oriented and goal driven, with a commitment to the highest quality standards. Mr. Wicky’s unique caring style of management attracts exceptional employees to join and re-join his projects.
As President or Board Member of many local civic organizations and cultural societies Mr. Wicky has successfully integrated his properties with the resort’s community. His interaction with government entities at both local and state level has been a vital part of his role as administrator. He has shared his considerable knowledge as a guest speaker at Cornell University and a lecturer at both Florida State University and Florida Atlantic College. He has continued to expand his own base of knowledge by furthering his education at Cornell University, School of Hotel Management and the University of Miami. Mr. Wicky holds a Certified Hotel Administrator degree from Michigan State University.
